Medical Students
Interventional radiology is an exciting, dynamic field that combines advanced technology with the fundamentals of patient care. Truly the specialty of the future, interventional radiology is based upon image-guided procedures. Interventional radiologists offer the most in-depth knowledge of the least invasive treatments available coupled with diagnostic and clinical experience across all specialties.
After completion of 6 years of training (internship, diagnostic radiology residency, vascular and interventional radiology fellowship), interventional radiologists are Board certified in diagnostic radiology and qualify for a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. The CAQ in VIR is the only recognized Board examination in this field, and only radiologists are eligible.
