Meeting Byte: PAD

Description

This activity contains the prerequisite work required for the 2016 Lower Extremity Arterial RevascularizatioN (LEARN) course. This online activity allows you to review selected Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)-related lectures from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 SIR Annual Meetings and take an assessment eligible for self-assessment (SA-CME) CME credit.
This activity covers various PAD topics, which include but are not limited to: the clinical approach to IR, anatomic and clinical considerations, anticoagulation, the natural history of PAD, the impact of risk factor modification in patients with PAD, the current evidence behind

lower extremity interventions, the tools needed to treat difficult lesions, as well as vascular access strategies and pitfalls.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this pre-course work, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the natural history of PAD and the impact of risk factor modification in patients with PAD
  • Discuss effective periprocedural care of patients with PAD including important anticoagulation concepts
  • Summarize the data related to outcomes of current lower extremity interventions including (Drug-coated balloons and stent trial data)
